Virgin Moscow Mule (Print version)

A crisp, refreshing drink featuring ginger beer, fresh lime juice, and mint leaves. Perfectly balanced and ready in 5 minutes.

# What you need:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 4 fl oz ginger beer (non-alcoholic)
02 - 1 fl oz fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
03 - 2 fl oz club soda

→ Garnish

04 - 2–3 fresh mint leaves
05 - 1 lime wedge
06 - thin slice of fresh ginger (optional)

# Directions:

01 - Fill a copper mug or tall glass with ice cubes to chill the vessel.
02 - Pour the fresh lime juice over the ice in the glass.
03 - Add the ginger beer and club soda to the glass; stir gently with a bar spoon to combine without losing carbonation.
04 - Slap the mint leaves between your palms to release the aromatic oils, then place them in the drink.
05 - Garnish with a lime wedge and fresh ginger slice if desired. Serve immediately while cold.

# Expert advice:

01 -
  • The ginger beer gives you that spicy kick without any alcohol, perfect for when you want to feel sophisticated but still wake up early tomorrow.
  • It takes literally five minutes, so you can make one for yourself and three for friends without anyone waiting.
02 -
  • Copper mugs aren't just for show. The metal actually conducts cold and keeps your drink frosty way longer than glass, which I discovered the hard way after serving one in a regular tumbler.
  • The order matters. Lime first, then the mixers. If you pour the ginger beer before the lime, you'll end up with a drink that's not quite balanced.
03 -
  • Chill your copper mug in the freezer for ten minutes before starting. It makes a surprisingly big difference in how long your drink stays perfectly cold.
  • If you're making these for a crowd, multiply the recipe and mix everything except the soda in a pitcher, then add the bubbly right before serving.
