Juicy patties topped with tangy homemade cranberry sauce for a savory twist.

# What you need:

→ Turkey Burgers

01 - 1.1 lb ground turkey
02 - 1 small onion, finely chopped
03 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
04 - 1 egg
05 - 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
06 - 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
07 - 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
08 - 1 tsp salt
09 - 1/2 tsp black pepper
10 - 1 tbsp olive oil

→ Cranberry Sauce

11 - 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
12 - 1/4 cup orange juice
13 - 1/4 cup sugar
14 - 1/2 tsp orange zest
15 - Pinch of salt

→ Assembly

16 - 4 burger buns
17 - Lettuce leaves
18 - Sliced red onion
19 - Sliced tomato

# Directions:

01 - Combine cranberries, orange juice, sugar, orange zest, and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for approximately 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries burst and the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
02 - In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, Dijon mustard, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until ingredients are just incorporated.
03 - Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal portions and form them into burger patties.
04 - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through, ensuring the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
05 - Lightly toast the burger buns if desired. Place lettuce on the bottom bun, add the cooked turkey patty, and top with cranberry sauce, red onion slices, and tomato slices. Close with the top bun.
06 - Serve the burgers immediately with preferred sides such as sweet potato fries or a crisp salad.

# Expert advice:

01 -
  • It transforms a standard burger into something gourmet without any fancy techniques.
  • The homemade sauce comes together faster than you can preheat the pan.
02 -
  • Lean turkey can dry out quickly so resist the urge to press down on them with the spatula.
  • The cranberry sauce needs to cool completely to reach that perfect jammy consistency.
03 -
  • Let the cooked patties rest for a few minutes so the juices redistribute.
  • Use a sturdy bun that can hold up to the juicy sauce without falling apart.
