Cinnamon Sugar Air Fryer Banana Chips (Print version)

Crispy air-fried banana chips coated with cinnamon sugar for a naturally sweet, healthy snack.

# What you need:

→ Bananas

01 - 3 large ripe but firm bananas

→ Cinnamon Sugar Coating

02 - 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
03 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
04 - 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted (or neutral oil)

→ Optional

05 - Pinch of sea salt

# Directions:

01 - Peel the bananas and cut them into thin, even slices about 1/8 inch thick using a sharp knife or mandoline slicer.
02 - In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon until evenly combined.
03 - Brush the banana slices lightly with melted coconut oil on both sides, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over both sides of each slice.
04 - Arrange the coated banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Work in batches if necessary to prevent overlapping.
05 - Air fry at 350°F for 10-15 minutes, flipping the chips halfway through cooking. Watch closely during the last few minutes to prevent burning.
06 - Remove from the air fryer and let cool on a wire rack. The chips will crisp up as they cool. Optionally sprinkle lightly with sea salt before serving.

# Expert advice:

01 -
  • The way your whole kitchen smells like warm banana bread in under fifteen minutes
  • That perfect crunch-to-chew ratio that keeps you reaching for just one more
  • Knowing exactly what's in your snack instead of mysterious shelf-stable ingredients
02 -
  • Air fryers vary wildly—mine runs hot, so I check at 8 minutes while my friend's needs the full 15
  • Overlapping slices is the number one reason batches fail, and I learned this the frustrating way
  • Thickness matters more than you'd think—inconsistent slicing means some will burn while others stay soft
03 -
  • Use slightly underripe bananas if you want maximum crunch with zero chew
  • Work quickly once you've oiled the slices—the coating absorbs faster than you'd expect
